Learn to Play Mah Jongg
One Bam! Two Dot! Three Crack! Calling all beginners who want to learn how to play Mah Jongg with instructor, Sharon Katz. Join the ranks of Mah Jongg enthusiasts who are reaping the social and intellectual benefits of playing this challenging tile game. Players will learn the basics: identifying tiles and rules, choosing a hand by interpreting the mah jongg card, setting the table and dealing, passing tiles, and playing a round. Participants: Maximum of 10 players. This is a series occurring Monday mornings 10:00am - 11:30am from September 9th through October 7th. Mah Jongg cards will be provided.
INSTRUCTOR: Sharon Katz has a Master’s in Education from Boston University, and has worked with children and adult learners for more than 25 years. Sharon has taught Elementary Math, Reading Comprehension, Written Expression, and Executive Functioning Study Skills at independent schools in RI, CT and MA. Sharon is a game enthusiast who loves to read, practice yoga (especially on the beach) and arrange flowers. She has played Mah Jongg for a decade, and has taught more than five hundred people to play, including during the pandemic via Zoom. Sharon is thrilled to fuse her passion for the game of Mah Jongg with her professional training as an educator.
